The actress’s eldest child has expressed a desire to be known as “Shiloh Nouvel Jolie” instead of “Shiloh Nouvel Jolie-Pitt,” a decision that has reportedly upset her father.

Shiloh’s move to change her surname came just a few months after her 18th birthday on May 27. Under state law, a legal name change petition must be published in a newspaper at least a month before a judge can approve it. Shiloh took this step by publishing her notice in the Los Angeles Times, officially announcing her intent to change her legal name.
