A 14-year-old high school girl started painting on lockdown, and now her paintings are selling for thousands of dollars

While some use lockdown as a justification, others see it as a chance to consider their options. For instance, a Welsh-born 14-year-old who picked up a paintbrush for the first time while engaging in self-isolation learned that drawing is a really enjoyable activity. The young girl has developed her talent over the previous two years, and as a result, her paintings are now valuable works of art. Here’s a tale about a special young artist named Mackenzie Byrd, whose flimsy pastime has produced surprising outcomes.

The Story of Mackenzie: Two Years From Rookie to Professional Prior to becoming a lawyer

Bird Mackenzie had a reasonably active lifestyle that included a lot of travel, sports, and hiking. Overall, she wasn’t the kind of person who enjoyed lounging about the house. But everything changed one day. The young girl was confined to four walls after the pandemic was revealed. She made the choice to attempt something new because she is a fearless and active person.

The moment Mackenzie found her mother’s paints and brushes inside the house, she had an epiphany. “Then, during lockdown, I made the decision to try painting as a temporary pastime. Who thought it would develop into anything more substantial? “Bird remembers. The girl went to the garden outhouse to master a new skill after borrowing painting supplies from her parents.

“My mother used to love to paint. We still had canvases, paints, and brushes from that time. Since I had a lot of free time, I thought, ‘Why don’t I try it?'” the young artist said. Mackenzie said she’s always loved art, but it was the first time she decided to take on someone else’s portrait.

Worldwide Recognition

The girl’s parents as well as herself were taken aback by how quickly her talents were progressing. The quality and level of detail in the paintings improved with each succeeding portrait. The young woman made the decision to publish her work online. That’s right, too! John Tucker, a farmer, was captured in Mackenzie’s photo, which quickly went popular on social media.

Miss Bird’s artwork started to catch the attention of art connoisseurs all around the world. Three of the girl’s paintings have reportedly been sold, according to the Cardiff-based gallery Blackwater’s officials; one of the sales netted Mackenzie around $14,000. However, she is not willing to sell his final portrait—which features the young artist’s grandfather—for any money. He loved her far too much.

Despite the dizzying success and public interest, 14-year-old Mackenzie has no plans to make a career out of it. “I don’t see painting as my future profession. However, I’m not going to give up painting. I think I will continue to keep a balance between my studies and art. I also want to travel and play sports,” she admitted.

According to Ms. Byrd’s art teacher at the school, “It’s not simply the ability to portray light, texture, color, and shape. Mackenzie has the ability to capture the situation, the mood, and the personality of the subject. As a 14-year-old, it’s an amazing accomplishment. We are incredibly proud of her. The principal of the school continued, “The girl is truly really talented. She is skilled not only at drawing but also at sports! She will be attending an international field hockey tournament this Friday.

As they say, a good person is good at everything! Tell me, do you like the work of the young Welsh artist? Which portrait caught your eye the most? Write in the comments!
