Christopher Towne decided to assist a friend with rearranging furniture. During the process, they stumbled upon a hidden trapdoor behind a cupboard, revealing a secret passage leading to a well.

Christopher, without consulting his friend, ventured to explore the passage and accidentally slipped and fell into the well. His friend, upon noticing Christopher’s disappearance, quickly sprung into action and found him standing in the water below.

Using a strong rope found nearby, he managed to pull Christopher out of the well. After regaining their composure, they called for assistance, and upon inspection, it was discovered that the cottage was over 150 years old.

Historical records revealed that the well was originally located adjacent to the structure but was covered haphazardly with boards when the building underwent expansion.
