After spending 2381 days at the shelter, the cute puppy is still in disbelief that he has now been adopted
Every time she talked about Higgins, a great dog, the director of the Preble County Humane Society in Ohio was interrupted by the question of whether they should keep the dog anymore.
The reason was that the dog simply spent too much time in the orphanage, which led many to wonder why he was left alive.
However, Leslie Renner was not going to give up. The last thing the lady wanted was to put the dog to sleep.
She was sincerely caring to animals, so she would fight to the last.
Despite his condition of being ignored by visitors, the dog showed surprising resilience and patience.
The four-legged orphan did not give up waving his tail in a friendly manner to get potential owners’ attention. He was living with a hope to be lucky one day.
He was rescued in 2012 and brought in with the intention of being adopted with the help of the employees.
However, the days continued to pass again and again, but without a chance.
People came and selected either young dogs or puppies. The dog continued to wait, and the people who came to the shelter were afraid to take him in, as he lay there for too long and, perhaps, had problems they thought.
Then, a miracle happened on the 2381st day of Higgins’ stay. Brandon Lead, a young man, came to the orphanage.
He said what the company’s employees had long hoped to hear: “I came for Higgins!”
Leslie Renner was extremely excited about the news. It turned out, the man found out the backstory of the dog, looked at his images and came to the conclusion that this is exactly the animal that he wanted to have in his house!
With a huge delight, the dog is now resting in a warm bed, enjoying delicious food, playing on the grass and cuddling with his devoted owner, six and a half years after the incident!
“He seems very charming!” Brandon says, “Why did no one want to bring him into their home for so long?”
