A dog that has been abandoned is always terrible to see. Recently, an 8-month-old puppy was discovered in the woods by himself, abandoned with all of his belongings, and waiting for someone to come and give him some love.

Thank goodness, a rescue took in the sad puppy, who is now looking for a new home and is in good hands.

The dog, now known as Hank, was discovered in the woods by a kind person. He was seated quietly and surrounded by several of his previous playthings, a dog bed, and some food. It was obvious that he had been left behind.

Hank was also discovered with a broken leg that had been damaged for at least two weeks, according to a Facebook post.

He was underweight and had spent two weeks in the woods by himself.

Hank was adopted by Humans and Animals United, a nonprofit animal rescue group with offices in Florida, who also helped him get ready for surgery to repair his fractured leg.

Hank is happy and the staff adores him, according to a Facebook post from Humans and Animals United.

After going through so much, Hank was obviously glad to finally be safe.

“Once he realized he was being carried to the veterinary hospital, his tail began to wag. We are at a loss as to why someone would abandon him while he has a fractured leg,” they stated.

Thankfully, Hank’s situation is improving despite all of the heartache he has experienced throughout his life.

Humans and Animals United’s Rosa Fond told The Dodo that Hank has received a flood of adoption inquiries. He still needs to heal a bit, but he will soon have a place to call home.

Before he is truly adoptable, “he’s going to have a little bit of a journey to go through,” she told The Dodo. “But now that he’s protected, he won’t ever, ever be hurt again.”

It’s heartbreaking what this dog went through, but Hank is now in good care, is making progress toward recovery, and hopefully will find a wonderful new home very soon.
