Johnny Depp Received $1 Million From Amber Heard. How Will the Actor Use the Money?
Johnny Depp has committed to donating his profits to charity. As per the report, the funds will be split evenly among five distinct organizations, each receiving $200,000, Mignews reports, referencing TMZ.
The actor will be making donations to the following nonprofits: Make-A-Film Foundation, The Painted Turtle, Red Feather, Tetiaroa Society, and Amazonia Fund Alliance.
Make-A-Film Foundation fulfills the wishes of children connected to the film industry – actors, directors, and so forth. Johnny has previously collaborated with them on a short film.
Contributions to two other entities, The Painted Turtle and Tetiaroa Society, will serve as Johnny’s tribute to Paul Newman and Marlon Brando. Each had a significant role in the establishment and success of these charities over the years. With these donations, Depp intends to “carry on their legacy.”
Red Feather and Amazonia work towards preserving the culture and heritage of indigenous communities in the Americas. The organizations allocate funds towards housing and shelters for individuals, as well as large-scale infrastructure projects to safeguard villages.
In early June 2022, Amber Heard lost her lawsuit against Hollywood actor Johnny Depp. The court convicted her of defaming her ex-husband, an act which nearly ended the actor’s career. For this, Heard was ordered to pay $15 million in damages, but the actress refused to admit guilt, stating she didn’t have that much money.
Almost immediately, the ex-spouse’s lawyers lodged an appeal to reconsider the case, which they believe was conducted with multiple irregularities. However, the court dismissed the actress and her lawyers’ claim for $10 million. Subsequently, Depp and Heard settled on $1 million.
