“My Mother Dissuaded Me From Marrying Her.” What do the Children of a Special Woman Look Like Now

Rose Siggins was a remarkable and resilient woman who showed the world that there are no impossibilities. Born in 1972, it was immediately apparent to Rose’s mother that her daughter was extraordinary. The medical team proposed mitigating the difficulties of Rose’s rare condition—legs fused at the hip—by surgical removal. The mother consented to the complex procedure. Despite her unique physical condition, Rose pursued education and lived an ordinary teenager’s life.

Siggins confessed to journalists that she could never quite grow accustomed to the gazes from strangers.

“They gawk and do not hide it, both children and adults. Siggins met her future husband while working at a car service center. The couple chatted frequently on the phone for work. Young people flirted and flirted with each other without seeing each other.

The first meeting changed Rose’s life dramatically. Dave proposed to our heroine today. “My mother talked me out of marrying Rose,” the man admitted. “How do you deal with her disability?” Dave’s mother once asked. “The doctors were dumbfounded by the news of my first pregnancy. I gave birth to a healthy baby boy,” Siggins declared.

Despite these challenges, she persevered. A few years later, she became a mother herself. Rose was not a woman to admit defeat easily. This extraordinary individual seemed to have time for everything: managing a household, raising her children, indulging in skateboarding, and even appearing in a popular American television series.

An unfortunate incident led to Rose’s untimely departure. Unable to combat an infection that she contracted following kidney stone removal, she passed away. Rose was only 43 years old.
