“My Three Sons” Triplets Are All Grown up and Mature: They Quit Acting and Became Military Men!

The classic family sitcom “My Three Sons” remains beloved even years after its conclusion. Let’s explore the journeys of the real-life triplets who portrayed Robbie Douglas’ children.
“My Three Sons” was a cherished sitcom that aired from 1960 to 1972, capturing the hearts of viewers with its depiction of the Douglas Family’s adventures.
The show departed from the conventional nuclear family concept, contributing to its enduring legacy.
Tim Considine played Mike Douglas, the eldest son, questioning his father’s decisions before leaving the series in the fifth season.
Stanley Livingston portrayed the youngest son, witnessing his father’s death, while Don Grady took on the role of Robbie Douglas, who became a teenage parent to triplets in the series.
The triplets’ on-screen roles spanned from 1970 to 1972. In a recent snapshot shared by actress Tina Cole on Facebook, the siblings, Joe, Dan, and Michael Todd, looked unrecognizable yet handsome, showcasing a striking resemblance as grown-ups.
Their journey started when their grandmother responded to a newspaper ad seeking twins for “My Three Sons.”
The idea to add a third character to the twins proved perfect for a show with that title. The Todd brothers were selected not for their individual talents but simply because they were siblings.
Post-“My Three Sons,” the triplets ventured into commercials before making an appearance on “The Joan Rivers Show” in 1989.

However, their careers in the entertainment industry were short-lived as they pursued a different path—serving in the military.
Joining the Army became a defining decision for the triplets. Joe served for 20 years in the Army’s medic department, eventually retiring in 2007.
