Richard Gere, the well-known Hollywood actor, faced a challenge when trying to sell his luxurious residence in the Hamptons, known as Strongheart Manor.

This exquisite property, acquired during his second marriage to Carey Lowell, offered all the amenities a family could desire, including guest houses, an outdoor fireplace pavilion, a private dock, and enchanting gardens.

Gere initially listed the estate for a staggering $65 million in 2013, but despite its grandeur, it lingered on the market for three years. The 6.3-acre estate, situated on the North Haven peninsula of Long Island, featured extensive renovations and expansions over the years.

Boasting 12 bedrooms, 12 bathrooms, and over 12,000 square feet of space, the mansion became available for purchase between 2005 and 2008 through a series of separate land acquisitions by Gere.

The property, built in 1902, offered captivating views, with large wood-framed windows inviting natural light to illuminate its interiors.

However, real estate experts deemed Gere’s initial asking price as “outrageous” for what they considered a “rather normal-looking” mansion.

In 2016, amid Gere’s divorce from Lowell, he decided to slash the price to $36.5 million in a bid to attract potential buyers. After three years on the market, the property found a new owner in the form of former “Today” host Matt Lauer.
