“When Sponges Are Bought In Packs, But Not For Washing Dishes”: Other Effective Ways To Use Them At Home!

I always keep a stash of foam sponges on hand, as their utility extends beyond mere dishwashing.

In the refrigerator, foam sponges come in handy for absorbing unwanted moisture, particularly in the fruit and vegetable compartments. This keeps the area dry and extends the freshness of the produce.

To eliminate odors within the fridge, I employ a combination of a dry sponge and baking soda. By sprinkling a generous spoonful of baking soda onto the sponge and placing it towards the back of a shelf, it effectively tackles both smells and surplus moisture.

For cleaning the microwave, a moistened sponge with a bit of dish soap works wonders. Placed inside and heated on high for four minutes, the steam generated helps loosen grime, making it easy to wipe the interior clean.

During plant repotting, I place a sponge at the pot’s base before adding drainage material and soil.

This sponge acts as a reservoir, absorbing any excess water and preventing leakage, while also rehydrating the soil if watering is less frequent.
